Insurance contracts that you may encounter on the Cote d'Azur could be divided into two major groups - personal insurance and property insurance.

If you do not reside on the Cote d'Azur permanently, then for real-estate, car or yacht insurance you would use classic contracts.

As you get a residency the situation gets more complicated. In this case, you are required to have health insurance (carte vitale), that you may want to enhance with additional health insurance contract (mutuelle).

If you have school-age children, you would need a liability insurance that covers the risks while your child attends school and extracurricular activities.

Life insurance (assurance vie) is a specific type of contracts, which is also a way to invest and structure your assets. Such contract is common in France, because it has advantages in terms of taxation and is worth considering, especially in the case of permanent residence.
